This is how Little Munch got his name
“Cock-a-doodle-doo! Cock-a-doodle-doo! Come on, little Prince, wake up! Cock-a-doodle-doo,” said Johnny. “It’s wakey – wakey time.”
“Waha who is it? What is all the noise about? Oh, Johnny, it’s you,” said the Little Prince. “It is so nice and warm here in the sun. “Where’s my momma?” he asked.
“Good morning, my Little Prince, did you sleep all right?”
“Good morning, Momma. Oh, yes, I did,” he said with a big yawn as he made a munching sound with his lips. “I am hungry.” And with that he found his mother’s kitchen and began to have his breakfast.
Slurp, slurp, slurp, he was sure noisy, and hungry too.
Little Munch was not always called Little Munch. Remember that his name is Beauregard of Hensley, the IV. He is the son of Beauregard Sr. and Beauregard Sr. is the champion of all the Black Angus bulls in the entire world.
As much as our little prince loved milk, he was about to find something even better; grass and clover. It all happened just this way.
“Momma, what is wrong with me? Inside my mouth there are these things that are growing, and they hurt my tongue when it gets in the way. What are they, momma?”
“Oh, my son, they are called teeth, and you use them to eat the delicious green grass and the sweet clover. It is just the best tasting food in the entire world. Would you like to try some?”
“Boy, I sure would, momma. I am so hungry. How do you do it?”
“Well, then, sweetheart, here is what you do. Bend your neck down to the ground like this.” His mother then bent over and put her nose right on the grass and said, “Now take a mouth full like this,” she said, as she took a big bite of the sweet clover and grass. “Chew it like this.” She just chewed on the grass and with her mouth full said, “Come on, son. Now you try it.”
“Okay, momma. like this?” Little Beauregard said, as he bent down and got a big mouth full and began to chew. “Oh, momma, thish ish sho good,” he said, as he chomped away and took another bite and munched again. Then he said to Johnny, “Slurp, oh Johnny, munch, munch thish ish sho wonderful and good, munch, munch. Do you eat it too?”
Johnny looked at him and began to laugh, “Why you are munching so loud, you will wake up the whole world. I think from now on, I am just going to call you Little Munch. You sure do make a lot of noise for such a little guy.”
Little Beauregard just munched away. The only time he stopped munching was to get another mouth full. Just like all little children everywhere, he loved to eat, and in the barnyard he could munch a lunch and no one even noticed. His momma tried to teach him to eat slow and not talk with his mouth full, but it never worked. He just munched away, and from that day on he was known as Little Munch.
